Here We Go-> Pelosi Schedules Monday Conference Call With Top House Dems to Discuss Mueller Report and “Next Steps to be Taken”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) scheduled a Monday conference call with top House Democrats to discuss Mueller’s garbage report and the “next steps to be taken.”
Democrat lawmakers in both chambers have been beating the impeachment drum since Mueller’s report was released Thursday morning.
In a statement, Pelosi accused Attorney General Bill Barr of presenting a “disrespectfully late and selectively redacted version of Special Counsel Mueller’s report.”
The special counsel actually assisted Attorney General Bill Barr with the redactions, but when have facts ever mattered to lawless Democrats like Nancy Pelosi?
“This report includes several alarming findings, including that “the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion.” It also explicitly states that the President’s campaign took actions with an expectation that “it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts.” Pelosi stated.
Pelosi said that Mueller’s report “undercut” Bill Barr’s claims that President Trump did not obstruct justice.
“Our Chairmen are studying the report, and have released a joint statement. As we continue to review this document, we will have more to report and will update you on the next steps that must be taken. The Caucus is scheduling a conference call for Monday to discuss this grave matter, which is as soon as our analysis and this Holy Season’s religious traditions allow.”
Pelosi then cited the portion of Mueller’s report that states, “We concluded Congress has authority to prohibit a president’s corrupt use of his authority in order to protect the integrity of the administration of justice,” which “accords with our constitutional system of checks and balances and the principle that no person is above the law.”
“Congress will not be silent,” Pelosi added.
House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) floated impeachment on Thursday during a presser.
Nadler told reporters that impeaching President Trump is “one possibility,” but that it is too soon to tell as he wants see the unredacted Mueller report and “other evidence.”
In the other chamber, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) called for the House to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
It will interesting to see if Pelosi plays with fire and decides to move forward with impeachment, something she previously stated she would not do.
